I am still working at the same place, irritated to no end. I'm thinking I won't find a new job 'til after the new year.
Had a good, albeit exhausting visit with FormerBlondie⢠and hubby last weekend. Six Flags and the Aquarium tired us all out.
Scrubs is my new favorite show
I actually had my first bout of the chills last night with a fever of 101 to boot. The plus side of that was not going to work. More on that in a bit
Now that Unfriendly's job prospects are looking more stable, we're actually going out and doing things. Halloween is fast approaching so he is creating yet another costume. We went to Costumes Etc on Wednesday night. I hadn't been feeling terribly great. I took that day off of work but wanted to be psyched about Halloween. I wandered around the store but wasn't too excited.
On the drive home, we passed the Roxy theatre. Demetri Martin was scheduled to do a stand up show the next night and we had talked about checking him out live.
Thursday morning I dragged myself to work. It's not a good sign when you have to talk to yourself into going to work every day, btw. I met up with Unfriendly at his job and made the trek down to Buckhead to see Demetri.
Leo Allen opened up for him. Hysterical. He wrote for SNL for some years and had some great material. Demetri Martin did not disappoint either. With all of the stress of my work and other stuff going on, I definitely needed a good laugh. He's added animation to his act which was a real treat.
The guys hung out after the show to meet fans, take pictures, etc, but I had no real desire to do that. I think it's partly me feeling like douchebag and partly remembering disappointment after meeting 'celebs' I thought were cool in the past. I saw all of these folks sort of fawning over him and making sort of odd small talk. What do you say really? I enjoyed the show and got to buy stickers of my all time favorite Demetri Martin comedy drawing (grapes...the fruit of hope), so I was happy. I must say though, the boy's got gorgeous hair.
After we got home, we watched Scrubs and then went to bed. Unfriendly was out like a light per usual. I couldn't fall asleep and ended up with the chills and a fever. Now, I've never had the chills as an adult. I had no clue what was happening to me because I felt like I was FREEZING and couldn't stop shaking. So, after waiting it out for an hour, I woke UF up because I was scared. Such a chicken. In our little household, the stereotype does not apply. I am a baby when it comes to being ill. He is the strong one with the high pain threshold. He took my temperature and took care of me and eventually my fever went down and the shakes stopped. He took me to Urgent Care this morning.
Ok..side rant here...Urgent Care opened up at 9am. And the place is called Physicians Immediate Med. Immediate? When, during retail business hours? WTF? Am I just spoiled from living in the land of U of MI hospital land where other hospitals of course would compete? Urgent Care near us was 24 hours. We got there at 8am and waited for an hour for the place to open. All of these other folks showed up at 10 to 9 so we actually lined up outside of the building to make sure people wouldn't sign up ahead of me. That irritated me. There seems to be a very me oriented lack of common courtesy streak in Alpharetta that infuriates me. Don't even get me started on the fuck you attitude folks have when it comes to merging on the highway.
Anyway, I figured I'd just get told it was a virus, but my blood worked proved otherwise. I am now taking two big horse pills called Biaxin which leave a very metallic taste in my mouth. The bummer is that I had plans to go to Coffee-Dog's Halloween party this weekend and had my first personal trainer appointment set up for Sunday. Both of those plans are nixed.
I got to thinking that not meeting Demetri Martin ended up being a good thing. Had I met him, I probably would have just infected him with my illness. Not a very considerate thing for a fan to do, right?
